How you display your work is extremely important. We understand our clients’ needs and will work with you to find the best solution to meet those needs. At CFL Framing Studio we offer a range of materials for your perfect display solution. Please talk to us for advice on the best way to display your work.
Card/Matboard – The card we use is available in a 4 ply/1.6mm thickness, made of 100% cotton, Museum Grade Archival quality material. Available in a variety of colours, it is used as a matting material for conservation purposes. When used as a mounting option, it is perfect for mounting down most paper type photographs or artworks. (However, we do not recommend mounting high gloss prints this way.) This matboard can also be used as a backing behind any special or old photograph in order to prevent possible surface bleed from other materials.
Fome-cor – Fome-cor is a smooth, ultra lightweight, acid-free material which is available in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses. It is generally used for mounting posters, prints and various types of presentation and display work. When used for display purposes, it is generally used as a one-off application. We usually recommend this material is framed as it can be susceptible to damage. Once protected in a frame, it will last very well.
Gatorboard – Gatorboard is a very rigid fomeboard which is extremely lightweight and resistant to bending. This product is mainly used for exhibitions, tradeshows, retail displays, posters and prints and is suitable for many types of display solution. It has a thin layer of synthetic wood fibre veneer each side of an extruded polystyrene core. It is available in 5mm, 10mm and 19mm sizes. For a professional finish, we use melamine edging in a choice of colours - silver, white and black.
Dibond – This can be used to mount directly onto or float your print over. Depending on the visual appearance you desire, Dibond can work in many different ways. It is only 3mm in thickness with a .21mm layer of aluminium on each side of a PVC core. Dibond comes in a variety of colours and is one of the most rigid and flattest materials available. It will not bow or warp and has the added advantage of being half the weight of aluminium.
